When we were approached to help a business owner grow their flooring business across Derby we were excited to see what specific areas we could help with.
Whilst he already had some online presence the business owner had ambitious plans to start with flooring but to grow his business using the network of other services and trades people he had worked with in the past.
We discussed branding and how this could or should also reflect in his website URL and other online presence and 'Derbyshire Flooring Specialists' was formed. The owner set about getting a new logo created and we used this as a basis to follow branding guidelines when developing his flooring website.
The important aspect to consider when building a site and getting online presence is understanding the different services your business offers.
Most of a website content will cover all the services offered but to what level of detail and how granular you should go can evolve over time.
We started with major services such as floor preparation, carpets, vinyl and laminate flooring but noticed that potential customers can be quite specific in their searches such as particularly looking for LVT in Derbyshire or even down to Karndean floor fitters in Derby.
We continually monitor and adapt the site to optimise it for relevant enquiries and then add more services such as underfloor heating as the business is able to expand its service offering.
As a mobile flooring specialist rather than a flooring shop it is important to utilise technology as much as possible to help the customers experience and confidence that Derbyshire Flooring Specialists can provide the floor finish a customer wants. To assist with this process we have also included online software which allows customers to take a photo of their existing room and overlay their existing floor with a wide range of floor styles and colour options to get a really good idea of what their room would look like with new flooring. This is a great way to narrow down the number of possible floor options that the business then needs to bring to the client to see and handle before making a final decision.
We also work with clients to understand who their target customers are as a number of businesses will only focus on B2B clients while others only cater for the residential market.
Derbyshire Flooring Specialist cover both commercial and residential flooring and this too can mean that content for their business is reflected appropriately when trying to optimise their online presence.
We always achieve better results with client engagement in areas that sit with their expertise. Providing us with photos and videos of completed jobs is a great way to showcase their work and using a time lapse camera for a floor installation provides compelling viewing as well a providing confidence in the clients capabilities of floor fitting.
